Belgian Pharmacy Reduces Capsule Checking Time with the SADE SP-B60

Apotheek Guido Meeuws, a pharmacy in Roeselare, prepares bespoke medications and prescriptions for individual patients. As capsule production increased, manual weight checking became a growing operational constraint.

Quality control was essential, but the pharmacy’s capsule-making equipment was more than eight years old. As a result, each capsule had to be weighed individually on a laboratory scale. This process took significant staff time, added around 10 hours of overtime per week, and delayed the time it took to prepare medication for customers.

After reviewing the available options, the pharmacy selected the SADE SP-B60 from CI Precision>.

The SADE SP-B60 weighs individual capsules at a rate of just over 1 per second. A typical batch of 100 capsules can now be checked in around 90 seconds, compared with more than one hour previously. This reduced manual effort, improved turnaround time, and released staff capacity for higher-value work.

Each batch is also summarised in a report, and with SP Connect software, the data can be saved as a PDF on an external PC, improving recordkeeping and traceability.
